Research indicates a resumption of expansion in franchising

The Quarterly Survey of Franchise Performance presented by the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) pointed to the resumption of growth in the sector. According to the data presented, the index of opening of stores in the period between April and June of 2018 was of 3.1%, against the closing of 1.3% of the units, generating a balance of 1.8%.

This result was better when compared to the first quarter of this year that had presented balance of 1%. According to ABF market intelligence manager Vanessa Bretas, we are beginning to see a greater provision in network expansion, especially new entrants to the market and leaner models. "This move was strongly reflected in this year's ABF Franchising Expo," said Vanessa.

The research data reinforce the tendency of the movement of internalization of the franchises throughout Brazil. According to the study, the Midwest and North regions became more representative in relation to the units in operation in the regions and in the billing.

The president of ABF, Altino Cristofoletti Júnior, emphasized that the movement of interiorization of the Brazilian franchises is a reality. "Today we see well-known brands in small cities, far from the big urban centers. This ability of franchising to reach all places of this immense Brazil, bringing brands, products and services to all audiences reveals the strength of the sector and the certainty that franchises will continue to expand throughout the national territory", he concludes.
