Retail sales growth exceeded the forecast of economic consulting companies for July and August

The retail trade was up 1.3% in sales between the months of July and August. This result was better than expected, surpassing economists' projections. Now what is expected by the end of this year is that the historical trend of increase in sales for the period will continue as there are positive signs for the trade and for the economy as a whole.

Of the Brazilian states, only three showed a decline in sales for this period: Amapá, Piauí and Roraima. The highest increases occurred in Paraíba (+7.5%), Acre (+7.1%) and Minas Gerais (+5.5%).

Experts believe that retailing has benefited from the actual growth of workers' incomes and the improvement of the labor market. However, there is doubt whether retail behavior will be adversely affected in recent months by recent inflationary pressures.

At the end of the year, those who work with trade rely on the recovery of trade activity and also on the economy as a whole. In addition, in the second half of the year, some dates such as Children's Day, Black Friday and Christmas contribute to this trend.
